People suffering from dental anxiety may cringe or even put of receiving dental care out of fear. Statistics vary, but some studies suggest that up to 15 percent of Americans have a real fear of dental work. If you fall in this category, there is great news. At Advanced Periodontics and Implant Center of Connecticut, we offer state-of-the-art sedation dentistry to help ease your concerns.
Have you been held back by your dental fear? You can reduce or even eliminate dental anxiety when you take advantage of sedation dentistry options like oral sedation and nitrous oxide.
Oral sedation uses prescription sedatives to calm you. Oral sedation is especially useful for more complex treatments such as dental implants, Teeth-in-a-Day™ or All-on-4®. If you decide on oral sedation, you will need someone to bring you to and from your appointment with Dr. Richard Amato.
Nitrous oxide is a sedative that you breathe in through a special mask. It allows you to feel less worried about what is happening. Nitrous oxide wears off rapidly, so there is no need for a designated driver.
In addition to sedation dentistry, we feature plenty of extras for your comfort when you visit our office. This includes blankets to keep you warm, headphones and ear buds so you can listen to music or watch TV and other relaxation tools. Patients tell us that they are surprised at how easily they are able to overcome their dental phobia thanks to our attention to detail.
