Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Amato attended Adelphi University majoring in Chemistry on academic scholarship and graduated with High Honors. He then received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Stony Brook University where he was awarded the School of Dental Medicine Department of Periodontics Award for Excellence in Periodontology. Dr. Amato completed a specialty post-doctoral residency and received his Certificate of Proficiency in Periodontics from Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester. He spent four years gaining further experience in several large group practices before opening his own office. Dr. Amato has limited his practice to Periodontics and Dental Implant placement and Laser Periodontal therapy with emphasis on minimally invasive procedures and has been in full time practice in Monroe, CT since 1989. Active in periodontal research throughout his education years, Dr. Amato is a former Clinical Instructor of Periodontics at the University Of Connecticut School Of Dental Medicine teaching both post-doctoral residents and undergraduate dental students clinical periodontics. He was awarded a Fellowship from the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry in 2011.
Michael D. Kang DDS is our new Associate Periodontist at Advanced Periodontics and Dental Implant Center of Connecticut LLC. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Born in New York City, Dr. Kang was raised in Chicago and comes from a family of medical professionals. He attended Cornell University and received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago. After completing a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Kang pursued his specialty training in Periodontics at Columbia University with a three-year residency in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery. He has published articles on implant dentistry and strives to use the most cutting-edge techniques.
Dr. Kang currently resides in Hamden with his wife, a professor at Wesleyan University. He enjoys traveling, cooking and exploring Connecticut.
Meeghan received her training from Fones School of Dental Hygiene. She graduated with a BS degree as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Meeghan has certification to administer local anesthesia and has current CPR certification. She resides in Stratford, CT with her husband, newborn daughter and lovable Sheppard mix. Meeghan enjoys making baked goods, hiking, and being outdoors, but also loves to just relax at home. She loves eating, especially at local restaurants that have locally brewed beverages. Because she loves being around people, this interactive office is a great fit, staffed with amazing coworkers and awesome patients.
Sandy is a registered dental hygienist possessing over 20 years’ experience with periodontal patients with esteemed Periodontist Dr. Stephen Wallace of Waterbury, CT until his retirement in 2017. She has her local anesthesia certification from the University of New Haven. She loves being part of our team and looks forward to providing our patients with the best care possible by utilizing her knowledge and expertise. Sandy and her husband reside in Watertown with their two lovely daughters, two frisky cats, and lovable chocolate lab. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, skiing, boating, biking, and kayaking.
Terneisha has served our country in the military. She was in the Army for 3 years before she joined our “Dental Family” here at Advanced Periodontics.
“T” completed an extensive Dental Assisting program at Porter & Chester Institute of Branford. She is certified in Radiation Health and Safety & is proud to have passed the DANB Infection Control Exam (ICE).
Terneisha resides in New Haven, CT along with her lively, energetic, beautiful daughter, Jaela and a mischievous adorable puppy, Baily. In her off time, Terneisha enjoys activities with Jaela, singing Karaoke with family and taking kickboxing classes. Above all, her mom is her best friend.
Terneisha is a great asset to our practice and we all enjoy her infectious laughter and ever present smile along with her caring way with patients.
Anna has been working with Dr. Amato for 7 years. When patients come in to have a surgical procedure done they usually don’t know what to expect and can be very nervous. Anna is very comforting to the patients and makes them feel better about having their procedure done. Anna and Dr. Amato are a great team together, which makes the patients feels at ease. She is very good about keeping the patients on schedule and making sure every patient leaves with proper post op instructions.
The most important part of Anna’s job is keeping everyone in the office laughing it helps the day go by smoother. When not at work, she’s a full time Wife and Mom (taxi).She loves walking her dog Christmas, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Nancy has over 25 years in the dental field. She joined Dr. Amato’s team in 2011. Nancy is an integral part of our staff. As Treatment Coordinator, Nancy is the liaison between referring doctors, patients, Dr. Amato and Dr. Kang. As she presents treatment to our patients, she reassures them and makes certain the patient has a full understanding of the treatment Dr. Amato and Dr. Kang has recommended. Our patients truly appreciate Nancy’s “chairside” manner and knowledge of dentistry.
In her “off” time Nancy enjoys traveling, boating, gardening, swimming, running 5K races, reading, cooking, and most importantly spending quality time with her handsome, kind, funny fiancé. Nancy is thrilled to welcome her granddaughter, Shea, born June 6, 2018.
We feel very fortunate to have Christina join our dental family. She brings dental insurance knowledge and experience to the practice. Christina enjoys providing our patients the extraordinary customer care they deserve.
Christina grew up in Stratford. She enjoys spending time with her three children, granddaughter and family. She is a cat enthusiast and enjoys reading in her spare time.
Sharon has been in the dental field for over 20 years. She started as a dental assistant and worked her way up to being Treatment Coordinator in Middlebury, CT. She brings a wealth of experience and has an exceptional connection with patients that makes them feel at ease.
Sharon is married, has two children and one grandchild. She loves the outdoors especially hiking and boating and is currently learning different types of calligraphy and crocheting sweaters for the winter.
